Group Days

Brook Farm is ideally suited as an exclusive venue for a small group of Fly Fishers. The Fishery will provide fishing for up to ten Rods, but half that number is far more exclusive, and so we apply a minimum fee equivalent to five Rods, and any additional Rods above five are each charged extra. In this way, a group of fishers can enjoy the exclusive use of the Fishery for the day, be it just two or three Rods, or perhaps seven or eight.

The Group Days are strictly limited to one per week, and they have to be booked well in advance. The system works as follows:- Days are booked as available with a maximum of one per week and repetition of the same day of the week is avoided in the following week, where possible, for the benefit of our Syndicate Members. At the start of the Fishing Season, our Syndicate Members have a list of the Group Days for the next three months, and – because they can fish at any time except Sundays – they simply fish around those Group Days. Dates for Group Days in the final three months of the Season are arranged by the end of June, and these dates are given to our Syndicate Members by the beginning of July. We have operated this system now for two years, and it has proven highly successful.

Group Days operate on a Catch-and-Take basis, (no catch & release), with each Rod subject to a 4-fish Limit. There are only two exceptions to this rule:-

The first is Brown Trout, all of which must be released. The second is large fish, over 10 pounds, which may be released at the captor’s discretion. Really large fish are essentially sporting fish – they are not ideal for eating compared with a two-pounder, and while it is in no way compulsory, an increasing number of our Rods are preferring not to kill specimen Trout. The only essential requirement is that these fish must never be removed from the water, and must be treated with great care. It is a pointless exercise to release such a fish that is then going to die later.

We have an incremental charge for these Days, depending on the month, as follows:-

High Season    April, May and Septembe   £300 plus £60 / extra rod above 5
Low Season    July    £175 plus £45 / extra rod above 5
Mid Season    June and August    £250 plus £50 / extra rod above 5

A 50% Deposit on booking will be required for fishermen new to Brook Farm, and all days are subject to availability and must be pre-booked.
